RHINE BOULEVARD
The Rhine Boulevard on the Deutzer Promenade invites you to linger on its steps, enjoy a refreshing Kölsch, or simply take a leisurely stroll along the banks of the Rhine. From here, you have a breathtaking view of the majestic Cologne Cathedral and the picturesque old town panorama.
Since its opening in 2015, the steps on the Rhine have quickly become a popular meeting point in the city. Especially in summer, you can observe numerous people savoring the pleasant atmosphere—whether they are true Cologne locals or tourists.
Thanks to its central location, the boulevard is easily accessible from the main train station. It is worth taking a walk along the cathedral to the Hohenzollern Bridge. Along the way, you will pass countless love locks attached by couples to seal their eternal love. For those who prefer to take the train, the popular spot is also reachable after a short walk of about 500 meters from Deutz station.
Whether on foot or by train—once you arrive on the “Schäl Sick,” as the right bank of the Rhine is affectionately called, a unique view of the cathedral opens up, offering the perfect opportunity for a beautiful souvenir photo with this landmark in the background.
