Deutz boasts a fascinating history spanning more than 1,700 years, closely intertwined with the development of the city of Cologne. This became particularly evident during archaeological excavations at the historical monument of the Divitia Fortress on the banks of the Rhine in Deutz. Since the summer of 2010, sensational finds from the history of the right bank of the Rhine have been brought to light there. These discoveries have necessitated significant changes and redesigns in the planning of the Rheinboulevard.
