THE COLOGNE CABLE CAR
Since its opening in 1957, the Cologne Cable Car has offered visitors with the opportunity to soar high above the Rhine and enjoy the panorama of Cologne. The cable car’s 44 gondolas operate from spring to late autumn and are regularly serviced and technically updated in winter.
The Cologne Cable Car connects the right-bank Rheinpark with the left-bank Cologne Zoo, providing an ideal opportunity to combine a zoo visit with a stroll along the Rhine. Rides take place daily from 10am to 6pm and offer passengers an impressive view of the city panorama and the mighty river below them. Each cabin can accommodate up to four passengers, and the ride/hourney can be started from both/either side(s) of the Rhine.
In addition to regular rides, there are also special rides where the gondolas float through the city at night/nocturnal city until midnight and beyond. For example, they take place on 24 June (Midsummer Night), 8 July (Starburst/Shooting Star Ride), 5 August (Cable Car Night), 9 September (Indian Summer) and 30 September (Autumn Night Ride).
